I guess the term “husky” is better than obese

How will labeling kids as obese in early childhood impact how they grow up and perceive their environment?

While catching up on this week’s news the following news story presented itself on the Wall Street Journal:

CHICAGO — A striking new study says almost one in five American 4-year-olds is obese, and the rate is alarmingly higher among American Indian children, with nearly one-third of them obese.

Researchers were surprised to see differences by race at so early an age.

Wearing “husky” sized clothes as a kid made me self-conscious enough around other kids when I was little. I imagine kids that grow up knowing the term, obese will present a hard obstacle for many kids to overcome as they grow up.
